Bibble 5 Confusion, Part 1 By Cory Trese

As a long time Bibble user, I am often grumpy when things change. One thing that I really need is a clear display of "this was edited" for my photographs.

In th screenshot I have attached there are two images selected in Bibble (like a stack) and you can see that an adjustment is visible in the "Basic Adjustments" tab [?]

These images (at least one of them) has a 0.57 negative exposure adjustment. However, they are both without the "edited" or Paintbrush icon.

I have come to the conclusion that either I am confused about what the paintbrush means, that there is some setting to control it or for some reason the changes for these NEF files aren't displaying.

Google Alerts

My once awesome Google Alerts about wedding photography have been destroyed by Content Farms.

I am so sad. I used to get a daily update on the state of the Wedding Photography world now it's just the same repackaged content over and over. Bummer, Google, bummer.

Bella Pictures Acquired

CPI Corp. acquires Bella Pictures
St. Louis Post-Dispatch
St. Louis-based CPI Corp. announced today that it is entering the wedding photography industry with the acquisition of Bella Pictures. ...

As a ex-Bella Pictures professional, I can say I'm not surprised to see someone buy them up.

The Bella leadership team (especially around the sales/photographer mismatch) really needs a shakeup.

I hope CPI Corp. does good things with the new purchase, because on its own, Bella was floundering.

Wedding Day Hair!

As a California Digital Wedding Photographer I am constantly being asked about style and hair tips.

As a result I spent a bunch of time reading Google Alerts and bouncing around Google Reader trying to find good tips for brides and grooms.

This page on people has some good tips for Wedding Day Locks ...

Creating Wedding Photography Web Sites

As a digital wedding photographer, I am required (not by law, but pretty close) to have a web site to stay in business.

Creating new web sites can be challenging for anyone.  Creating new web visually acceptable web sites can be a near impossible task for artistic types that often take up photography as a serious hobby, or in my case as a profession.

We are visual people and as my younger brother Martin often reminds me "the artist can see the true flaws of the work, things the casual observer will never notice."

And so we torture ourselves, aligning pixels and stressing over each visual element.

This page of web site creation guidelines can help the new photographer (or artist) and it is posted on www.NaturePhotographers.net which has been a very useful repository of knowledge and tips for me in the past, both regarding general and nature photography.

Need inspiration for your photography web site or your wedding photography page?  Perhaps this index of member's web sites will help: http://www.naturephotographers.net/membersites.html

For me, I always feel a certain amount of humility as I page through the works of talented photographers.  I think it is important to respect the work of other wedding photographers without being overwhelmed.

Remember, for all the photographs you see and think "Wow that is perfect" there is a tortured artist somewhere who is obsessing over invisible details in that photograph and wondering how someone could create the wonderful shot you don't know you have.

California Photography -- Moon Shot!

Hello Readers,

As a Sacramento Wedding Photographer I am always looking for things to take photographs of (as practice, ya know!)

Tonight the Moon will be a wonderful subject for photographic study.  Why, you ask?

The moon has an orbit around earth that is elliptical.  There are times when the moon is closer to earth during this orbit.

Ever so often, the moon being at its closest point to earth coincides with it being a Full Moon.

Tonight, my friends, is just such a night.

What this means is - the moon will be at its brightest and largest you will see for a long time, so a great opportunity to go out and take some shots (hoping it will be a clear night).

Big and bright

Sacramento -- Photography & Things To Do

I started following a new feed on Twitter called "The Sacramento Blog" which seems to be a pretty strong feed.

As a Sacramento California Photographer, I am always looking for good reasons to get out, fire the flash at a good time. I have been impressed with the links from SacBlog so far, and I hope you get something out of them if you take a look.

Bohemian Fashion @ Elle

Violet Moon Gaynor has another fashion "how-to" (pretty simple) over at Elle magazine called Shop Chic Bohemian Style.

I like the idea, my only complaint would be a request for more photographs of the completed look.

Anyway, as a Sacramento Wedding Photographer, I'm constantly on the lookout for Fashion related reading materials. Here is another one, at least with a lot more photographs

Wedding Video in 3D?

As a Sacramento Wedding Photographer, I love to hear about new high-end wedding technology!

The recent 3D movie Avatar was amazing and I love watching 3D

However, it does seem like the early adopters will be paying big dollars -- the KTAR story references a cost of $55,000 for the video!

Top quality wedding photography is so much more affordable, for example, just take a look at my Wedding Photography Packages.

Even Famous Photographers Have to Pay Their Bills

Photographer Leibovitz might loose her copyright on her portfolio of work.

http://edition.cnn.com/2009/US/09/08/leibovitz.debt/index.html?iref=mpstoryview

Would be very sad to see such a famous artist stripped of her rights, but that is what happens when you take loans and do not pay them back.

Trash the Dress 2009

Dear Blog!

It is mid-2009 and the Trash The Dress trend is still going strong.

As a Sacramento Digital Wedding Photographer, I do love Wedding Photography trends, especially edgy modern ones.

Washington Post Online News has this "Trash the Dress" interview.

Thanks,

Cory Trese
